Scissor, clipper blade and knife sharpening · Koper

A well-sharpened tool cuts better than a new one.

Scissors, clipper blades and knives, sharpened by hand by Igor Komadina himself. For salons, kitchens, butchers and individuals. Drop off in Koper or post from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy.

A workshop for tools that are used every working day

Tools reach the workshop by post and in person in Koper — from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. The best proof of quality is customers sending them back again.

Under the microscope

The edge tells you what happened to it

Every blade goes under a microscope before anything is ground — that is where the amount of metal to remove is decided.

The same class of blade after sharpening under the microscope: an even bevel with parallel striations along the full length.

Before After
Drag

Before. A chip running back from the apex, the kind a bone strike leaves.

After. An even bevel after grinding, with the burr removed.

Method

What is done to the blade, and why

  • 01

You deal directly with the person doing the work

The same person takes the tools in, sharpens them and explains. No counter to disappear behind.

  • 02

    Assessment first, sharpening second

The assessment shows how much metal actually has to come off. No more.

  • 03

The edge is built in stages, with cooling

Coarse to fine grit at a controlled angle. The steel never overheats.

  • 04

Shears are serviced, not just sharpened

Stripped, cleaned, both blades sharpened and re-tensioned.

  • 05

If a tool cannot be saved, you hear it first

If a tool is past saving you are told before the work, and you do not pay for it.
