Address

Dropping the tools off at the workshop in Koper

For salons and kitchens from the coast through to Nova Gorica, dropping off is the quickest route. Arrange a time in advance.

  1. 01

    Arrange a time

Write or call on +386 51 659 600 · igor.komadina@t-2.net and say what you are bringing. Opening hours are not fixed.

  2. 02

    Bring the tools protected

In a case or with the edges sheathed, not loose in a bag; rubbing means chips.

  3. 03

The list is gone through with you

Doubtful pieces are looked at on the spot; if the job is heavier, the price is confirmed first.

  4. 04

    Collection once you are notified

You are notified when the work is done, and get a short note on the tools’ condition.

Contact

Sending by post from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy

Anyone with no reason to come to the coast sends the tools instead. It is worth sending several pieces at once.

  1. 01

    Announce the consignment

Write or call on +386 51 659 600 · igor.komadina@t-2.net and list the tools and what is wrong. You get a starting price and a rough turnaround.

  2. 02

    Pack to the rules below

Every blade sheathed individually, all in a rigid box in which nothing can move.

  3. 03

Enclose a note with your details

Company name, contact, a list of the contents and what you want done.

  4. 04

    Send on a tracked service

Igor Komadina s.p., Ferrarska ulica 14, 6000 Koper. Tracked, insured if valuable.

  5. 05

    Assessment, price, sharpening

Every piece is assessed; if it is past saving you hear first. Then sharpening in stages, with cooling.

  6. 06

    Return by post

The sharpened tools go back tracked, with a short note on condition; return postage is the customer’s.

How to pack blades for the post

An unguarded blade works through its wrapping in transit and can injure someone. Blades travelling side by side chip one another. The rules apply even to a single piece.

Padded envelopes are not suitable: a blade cuts through one and the exposed edge can injure someone. Never send blades unguarded. Loss in transit is the carrier’s responsibility, not the workshop’s.

  1. 01

Wipe the blades dry and remove grease, hair and residue.

  2. 02

Guard every cutting edge separately: a rigid guard or stiff card folded over and taped.

  3. 03

Never put tape directly on the cutting edge.

  4. 04

Wrap each piece on its own, never as a bundle.

  5. 05

Send shears assembled and closed, with their original screw.

  6. 06

Send clipper blade sets complete, cutter and comb together.

  7. 07

Pack everything in a rigid box with 3 to 5 cm of filling on every side.

  8. 08

When you shake the box, nothing inside may move.

  9. 09

Enclose a note: company, contact, list of contents, what you want done.

  10. 10

Send tracked (insured if valuable): Igor Komadina s.p., Ferrarska ulica 14, 6000 Koper.

Inspection before grinding

How much metal comes off is decided here

A worn edge and a chipped one look alike by eye, but not under magnification — and that difference sets the price.

A worn cutting edge under the digital microscope: the edge is rounded over and scored along the bevel, with no chipping.
Wear without damage. This edge is not chipped, only rounded and burnished, and needs far less metal removed than one with a chip in it.

Turnaround

For small quantities the usual turnaround is 1–3 working days from drop-off; on the postal route, add transit. Larger consignments take longer — an estimate is given when the price is confirmed.

Common questions

Do you collect the tools from our premises?

No — we do not collect from your premises or deliver. You drop the tools off at the workshop at Ferrarska ulica 14 in Koper, post them from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy, or agree the arrangements with us. Sharpening is done in the workshop, not on site.

Can I turn up with the tools without arranging a time?

Better not. The workshop is run by one person and opening hours are not fixed, so a time is arranged in advance via +386 51 659 600 · igor.komadina@t-2.net. Say how many pieces you are bringing, so enough time is set aside for handing them over.

How many pieces is it sensible to send at once?

As many as still leave your business working. In practice it works to send part of the set in while the rest stays in use, then swap the two round at the next cycle. One consignment instead of several also means postage paid once, and the tools away in a single stretch rather than piecemeal.

Should I take shears apart and send the two blades separately?

No. Send shears assembled and closed, with their original screw: the two blades are a matched pair, and the tension is set on assembled shears. Send clipper blade sets complete, cutter and comb together, because they are sharpened and matched as a pair.

What if the parcel is lost or damaged in transit?

Loss or damage in transit is the carrier’s responsibility, not the workshop’s, so send on a tracked service and insure valuable tools. You are notified when the parcel arrives; if it has not arrived within the expected time, the claim is made with the carrier.

What happens if the assessment shows a piece is not worth sharpening?

You are told before the work, together with an honest view of what sharpening would still achieve and what it can no longer put right. In that case the work is not carried out and not charged for, and the piece goes back with the rest of the consignment.

Can customers from the Croatian or Italian side of the border use the workshop?

Yes. The workshop is in Koper, right on the Italian border and close to Croatian Istria, so tools come in regularly from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy — in person by arrangement or by post. All three are in the EU, so posting across the border is just as straightforward; the details are settled via +386 51 659 600 · igor.komadina@t-2.net.
